After a series of successful Bike Clubs, the Venchie has decided to run a course for the young people who come to the Breakfast Club.
The youngsters will get a bike to use and skills training in the playground of the former Craigmillar Primary school.

People from Hunters Hall are lucky to have a BMX track on their doorstep. It’s been sadly neglected since the last time BMXing was a popular activity.
BMX is now an Olympic sport! It will therefore be on everyone’s TV screens as part of next year’s Games.

Money for tools for the newly created bike club at Hunter’s Hall has been granted from a programme funded by the Scottish Executive (administered by Sustrans) for tackling the school run.

After a few weeks of playground training, the second group of the Venchie Bike Club went for an adventure on the local cycle paths and minor roads.

Earlier this year the Venchie childrens’ project in Craigmillar received money from the Council’s East Local Development Committee to run a Bike Club for P6/7 children.
The successful bid was put together with the help of TryCycling in Edinburgh as part of the Craigmillar Cycles scheme.

A second group of children is benefiting from the Venchie Bike Club. Members are lent a bike, if they don’t have their own, and supplied with helmets.They are learning bike handling and safety skills and also basic maintenance.
Soon they will be ready to go on guided rides exploring the local area.
